My name is Michael Schoelen, and have been working at my current job for just over 3 years as an Air Traffic Controller. Before I became and Air Traffic Controller, I graduated from Arcadia High School, went to Citrus Community College as well as California State University at Long Beach (CSULB), and owned my own car parts business.
My interest in photography started when I was the tender age of 12. I went on a 2 week trip up the pacific coast from Southern Califoirnia to the South tip of Washington. Prior to this trip I was given my first camera, a point and shoot Vivitar film camera (yes I am old enough to know what film is). This was the trip that started my hobby of Photography, after returning with more than 2 dozen rolls of film to process, I knew I was hooked on taking pictures. When I was younger the majority of my pictures were vacation pictures, as I grew older I started making a point to go out and take pictures on a daily basis.
When starting out with the digital camera my favorite subjects for photography were: sports (mainly surfing), cars (import cars), and landscapes. Back then I never would have imagined I would want to take a picture of anyone (I would never take portraits) but now I have a great interest in fashion photography.
I am new to the model / fashion photography, however we all know that doesn't mean we can't learn how to become great, and someday I would like to be.Once I took it upon myself to learn about flash photography, I was instantly hooked.
I am a shy person, but I am slowly fixing that by forcing myself to shoot with new people all the time, you can never have too many friends. When I am not shooting, I am either talking to airplanes, working out, or painting. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
